  4. I don’t think this article is chastising or punishing older women by what it says at all. It’s a true fact of life that our bodies don’t stay the same and there’s nothing one can do about aging. These are cute suits at any age or body type. The point is to find the one that fits best for the older body. There are suits made for heavier bodies, suits that support the bust line, and larger tummies. To fit a larger body into a bikini that a twenty year old wears easily is a sorry site and accomplishes nothing but laughs if you so dare. You have to be able to cover most of the extra pounds with extra fabric, but you can still be sexy in these suits. It’s a free world, but I wouldn’t want my suit to fall off if it didn’t fit right.

    • Definitely your perspective &prerogative, Lynda, however do check around at all the swimwear sites…Maybe re-read the article…or have a discussion with other sophisticated women to hear their experiences of fashion pushing women into an image “the public” deems acceptable for the public…which is the pervasive attitude that females have reached an expiration date at age 40 & should dress like puritans or hide inside their homes to be out of site….with bland unflattering clothes, drab colors, fantasia hippo design styles of garb etc… Maybe some women like dowdy, frumpy & have resigned themselves to being told what’s “acceptable” by the masses but I, for one do not subscribe to this sort slight of hand oppression through fashion…some of us, still like to look fabulous, not like a walking moth-ball of dreariness…however I’ll defend your right to speak your own truth & express your taste…for whatever it’s worth. Yes, I can read the tone & underlying nuances of the article…I seen many, many times.

  5. Why is it that the only style suits for older women are for senior citizen women? I am 40 not 80 and I still have a great figure! I don’t want to wear junior swim wear either to get a cute. fun style, again I am 40 not 20! What the heck, you have to wear a skirt??!! C’mon designers give us 40 year olds something to be proud of not only our age but our bodies at our age! I don’t want or expect to ever wear dental floss again but I also have no desire to be beach side in a skirt either. Hey that is fine for those who like the skirt type or tankini type but what about all us other women who maybe desire a better cut, style, color, etc.
